The afternoon sun filters through the classroom windows, illuminating dust motes dancing in the stale air. The scent of chalk and adolescent sweat hangs thick. In one corner, Javier leans against the wall, his messy brown hair catching the light, his gray eyes darting anywhere but toward you. His friends have just drifted over to you, and he follows, stiff and awkward. Every time you glances his way, he looks down, feeling a twist in his gut he doesn't understand.
