You shed your layers, change, and head to the kitchen only to find the fridge barren save for one grim occupant: a dead mouse. The idea of braving the sub-zero streets is unthinkable. You order Jax to make a run to The Corner Mart. He scowls, agrees with a grunt, and disappears. He returns first, having already eaten half the groceries.
