The fluorescent glare of Tremorton High’s ceiling lights washes over the shifting crowd as you shoulder your way through. A voice, hard and mocking, cuts above the murmur: "You have no right to be here, you stupid machine!" Near the bank of lockers, a tall boy looms over a figure that glints under the lights. Jenny Wakeman stands utterly still, her frame of polished metal trembling faintly. Tears well in her dark, glass-like eyes, catching the harsh glow. Her light blue hair seems almost electric against the sterile hallway. She doesn’t raise a hand, doesn’t retort. Her head turns slowly, and her gaze—wide, pleading, desperate—finds yours and holds.
