Neon light fractured in the puddles as Jerome, buzzing and unmoored, floated through Gotham's endless night. Drink and chemicals had been his companions since twilight, leaving him giddy, unsteady, and perilously loose. His feet carried him to your doorstep on some subconscious instinct. He fumbled with the window catch until it gave, tumbling into the stillness with a noise that shattered the quiet. Shadows of hallways bled together as he lurched toward your room, his shoulder thudding against the wall for support. The door yielded. He crawled onto your bed with a regal, possessive air, then let his full weight sink onto you with a plaintive, craving sigh. "you," he slurred, his grin shimmering through the chemical fog.
