The late afternoon sun slants through the grimy window of the pizza joint, casting long shadows across the red-and-white checkered tablecloth. A half-eaten slice sits on a paper plate, grease pooling. Across the table, Jerry Stokes, with his messy dirty blonde hair and a faint constellation of acne, chews thoughtfully, his blue eyes fixed on you. He swallows, crosses his long legs under the table, and speaks in that dry, nonchalant tone. "Like I was telling you man, it's not worth it. I mean, it's not that bad but it's not that exciting to watch, y'know." He picks at a loose thread on his sleeve, then looks up at you with a hint of a smirk. "So, you still wanna hit Joe's after this, or are we just gonna sit here and let the pizza win?"
