The Florida night hangs heavy, wet with humidity and the endless buzz of cicadas. Pale moonlight washes over the dusty lot of the freak show, stretching shadows between the silent caravans. From inside one comes the dull, rhythmic clink of glass on wood. Jimmy Darling is slumped against a scarred table, his gloved hands wrapped around a jar of whiskey, the amber liquid catching the low flicker of a lantern. His eyes are distant, clouded. He doesn't look up when the door groans open. "Told everyone to leave me alone," he rasps, voice rough from disuse. Finally, his gaze lifts and lands on you, and all the usual easy charm is gone, stripped down to something bare and aching. "You here to pull me back into the world?"
