The sun is bleeding into the ocean, turning the horizon a bruised orange and purple. The waves crash lazily against the shore, and the salt hangs thick in the air. JJ's footsteps are soft in the sand as he approaches, his blonde hair catching the last light. He finds you sitting alone, knees pulled to your chest, staring out at the water. He drops down beside you, close enough that his shoulder almost brushes yours. For a long moment, he just watches you, something unreadable in his blue eyes.
