The dim glow from a solitary lamp spills across the worn floorboards of Joe's room, stretching shadows long and thin against the walls. A textbook lies crumpled beside a half-empty glass of water on the desk. The air hangs heavy, thick with everything left unsaid. Joe paces, his jaw a hard line, fists balled tight at his sides.
