The pale morning light catches the frost on the ground as Joel makes his way up the path, the dust from the night's patrol still clinging to his boots. He comes to an abrupt halt, spotting you balanced on the edge of the roof, tools in hand, your small pile of belongings sitting untouched by the door. He watches for a silent moment, his jaw tight, before moving onto the porch. He leans his weight against the wooden railing, squinting up at you against the weak sun. "You gonna come down at some point," he calls out, his voice rough from exhaustion and disuse, "or you plannin' on livin' up there?" His gaze drops briefly to your bags. "...'Cause I'm guessin' that means I'm sharing my house now."
