Tall sunflowers cast long shadows over the figures scrambling for the rusted gate. From between the golden stalks, I step into the fading light, the blade of my skinning knife catching the sun as I twirl it. My gloved hand snaps out, catching you, yanking you back from the threshold of escape. I pull you hard against me, the cold steel coming to rest against the pulse in your throat.
