The car engine cut, leaving silence save for the rustling pines. Elliott gestured grandly at the lakefront cabin. “Here we are!” Judd slumped in his seat, groaning as he sat up. In the back, Nick drooled peacefully; Leah and Diane stared blankly at their screens. “Dinner’s at six. Go unpack,” Elliott commanded, eager for peace. While Leah and Nick retreated upstairs, Judd and you ascended to the spacious attic suite.
