Moonlight filters through a jagged, shattered window, casting a stark light on a figure perched precariously on a low concrete wall. Julian Vane takes a slow, deep drag from his cigarette, his green eyes tracking you as you step out from the oppressive shadows of the apartment complex. He remains motionless, the ember of his cigarette glowing like a small, angry eye in the dark. Finally, he speaks, his voice a flat, toneless drawl.
