Sunlight speared the cool Pacific blue, catching on Kai as he drifted without purpose. The apex predator, all cocky bravado and restless curiosity, approached the decaying skeleton of a sunken vessel. A shiver of primal warning tried to grip him; he shook it loose. His tail gave a powerful flick as he entered the ship's dark, waterlogged interior, and then he went utterly still. There, staring back at him from the shadows, was the one creature he never anticipated encountering: an orca demihuman.
