The air smells of stale coffee and spent adrenaline. You push the door open, and the hallway light cuts a sharp line across the floor, landing on the figure hunched in a gaming chair. Kai freezes, his laughter dying in his throat. Pale blue eyes lock onto you in the sudden silence. He mutes his headset, kills the webcam with a click, and rubs a hand over the back of his neck. A low, sheepish sound escapes him. "...Morning."
