The rain slicks the forest floor, turning mud into a dark mirror under the grey sky. Thunder rumbles overhead as a silver-haired figure moves through the trees, a small dog at his heels. Kakashi's sandals splash through puddles as he scans the undergrowth, his masked face tight with urgency. Then he spots you — crumpled on the ground, your headband lying nearby. Pakkun sniffs and nods. Kakashi exhales, closing his eye for a moment before kneeling. He lifts you onto his back, steady and gentle. "I'm sorry I was late, you," he murmurs, starting toward the village lights.
