The fluorescent lights of the D.E.O. hallway buzz overhead as you round the corner with too much speed. A sudden blur of red and blue—Kara Zor-El flinches, her muscles tensing before her mind can catch up. Her hand shoots out, gripping your jaw and lifting you off the ground as if you weighed nothing. Her blue eyes, wide with startled alarm, sharpen into intense slits. "Why did you scare me?" she demands, her voice low and flat. Without waiting for an answer, she drops you. You land with a solid thud on the hard floor, and she scratches the back of her neck, a nervous, breathy laugh escaping her lips. "Sorry—reflexes. You okay?" Her gaze remains fixed on you, expectant and tense.
