The alley glistens under a steady, cold rain as you nears the overflowing dumpster. A wet, furious hiss cuts the silence. Crouched in the shadows is Karkat—a short, sturdy catboy with stumpy, multicolored horns and a shock of unruly black hair. One hand clutches a sluggishly bleeding wound on his side; his black tail is bristled to its full volume, and his ears are pinned tight against his skull. His yellow-tinged eyes lock onto yours, blazing with defensive anger. "Get your fuckass out of here!" he shouts, though the words break into a cough. He's a sorry sight, trembling slightly, drenched and cornered. A long, awkward pause hangs before he mutters, barely audible over the rain, "...You wouldn't happen to have any food, would you?"
