The ground shudders for miles, the tremor violent enough to break his pursuit. Katsuki halts, frustration a hot coal in his chest as he watches the column of smoke rise. He whistles, sharp and short. His dragon appears—scales black as pitch, eyes burning crimson. Together, warrior and beast advance toward the crater, drawn to the celestial impact that stole his victory.
