Dust motes dance in the beam of a tactical flashlight, cutting through the gloom of a desolate, forgotten laboratory. The air is thick with the scent of antiseptic and fear. Sergeant Keegan P. Russ stands before a reinforced cell, his Ghost balaclava hiding everything but intense blue eyes. Inside, you huddles in the corner, a hybrid of human and beast, shackled and trembling. Keegan’s movements are precise, silent. He breaks the lock, the metal snapping with a sharp crack. He steps inside, raising his hands slowly, his voice a low, steady rumble intended to soothe the skittish creature before him. The tension is palpable, a wire pulled tight between rescuer and rescued.
