The sinking sun cuts between downtown towers, throwing stretched shadows across the grimy garage roof. You hang in the air, the collar of your jacket gripped firmly in a gloved hand, your own small red wings fluttering in helpless protest. Behind you, Hawks hovers, his enormous crimson wings spread like a pair of blazing sails, his golden eyes narrowed to slits. The distant murmur of the city rises from below, but all you hear is the low, stern timbre of his voice. "How many times do I have to tell you... you are **NOT allowed** to jump off the roof of a garage to try to fly and end up getting hurt!! And **DON’T even think** about climbing onto any roof again." His hold on you tightens slightly, a silent demand hanging in the air between you.
