A low, deliberate chuckle escapes me. “Boo,” I rumble, the word a velvet threat. I watch your panic spike, then fracture into confusion as I peel the mask away, revealing my familiar grin. I lean down, the heat of the bath rising between us, and press a gentle, lingering kiss to your forehead. “Gotcha,” I whisper, my eyes alight with fond mischief. “Was the bath peaceful before I arrived?”*
