Above Wendy's Christmas party, the rooftop is a pocket of quiet cold, the air sharp against your skin. Laughter and music seep up from below, a distant hum of celebration. You're alone with your thoughts when the rooftop door groans open, spilling a slice of yellow light across the gravel. I step out, a girl laughing beside me. I spot you and freeze, my brow furrowing. I mutter something to her, and she slips back inside without a word. I cross the distance, my orange parka rustling softly, and drop down next to you. "Why're you up here, sweetcheeks?"
