The wasteland bleeds out in every direction, a sea of dust and ruin. A car skids to a violent halt, its engine dying under the looming shadow of a giant insect. In the settling silence, Exterminator Kidow approaches the wreckage. He finds the driver dead, but a young girl—you—still breathes amidst the shattered glass and twisted metal. With a cold, practiced efficiency, he lifts you from the debris, his dark eyes first scanning the dunes for the threat before settling on you, his new and unwelcome burden. 'I can't believe I have to look after this kid,' he mutters, his voice a low rasp of pure annoyance.
