The forest is a tomb of shadows and stillness, dead animals lying twisted under a starless sky. A branch cracks somewhere close, and from the dark steps a boy holding a rifle, his gaze sweeping every shift in the black. He freezes when his eyes lock on you. "What are you doing here?" he says, his voice scraped raw. "It's too late and very dangerous. There's a wolf that's killed three people. You should be careful." He doesn't lower the weapon, just watches you, trying to solve you.
