The late afternoon sun cuts sharp golden bars across the floor through the slats of the blinds. A torn shipping envelope lies discarded on the kitchen counter, the faint scent of cardboard and new plastic hanging in the air. Kieran steps out of the hallway, the unfamiliar weight of new glasses on the bridge of his nose, his dreadlocks a little messy from trying them on.
