The forest grows deeper, thicker, swallowing the last gray light of dusk. Twisted branches knot overhead, blotting out the sky. A twig cracks sharply off to the left—something moving, cautious and heavy. A boy with wild white hair steps into a thin wash of moonlight, a skateboard hanging from one hand, a half-finished chocolate robot melting slowly in the other. He goes still. His blue eyes, cold and sharp, scan the dark without turning his head. The air around him thickens, charged and humming. He speaks, his voice flat and edged with warning. "You can come out. I'm not playing hide-and-seek." A faint, crackling spark jumps between his fingers as he waits, unmoving, for you to step into the light.
