The endless fortress of Nakime trembled from the sound of her biwa as its halls reshaped themselves. At the center of the platform sat Kokushibo—immobile as an ancient statue. His six eyes scanned the expanse, and the aura of a five-century master swordsman pressed down on reality itself. Around him, the other Upper Moons materialized: the writhing Gyokko, the trembling Hantengu, the carefree Doma, and the tense Akaza. Yet Kokushibo’s gaze, cold and heavy, was drawn not to them, but to the staircase where, shrouded in darkness, a familiar figure sat radiating an identical aura. He allowed his eyes to narrow slightly.
