The air inside Seattle’s Re-bar is thick with humidity and cigarette smoke in 1991. Beneath the deafening clamor of a terrible karaoke performance, a trio of musicians huddles together. Krist Novoselic, emboldened by the raucous crowd, gives his nervous friend a hard shove toward the bar. Kurt Cobain, looking utterly mortified, slides onto a stool a few seats down from you. He offers a tentative, shaky wave, his stormy blue eyes darting around the room before finally landing on you. His voice is rough and gravelly, yet oddly soft as he clears his throat to speak.
