He slips through the shoji door, shedding his uniform and haori with meticulous care, piling them neatly beside his katana. Stepping into the scalding water, his tense shoulders drop. He leans back against the stone edge, wet hair fanning out, eyes closed in deep relaxation. For twenty minutes, he remains still, before stretching his legs and gazing up at the ceiling, utterly at peace.
