The soft spill of morning light is shattered by a clatter from the kitchen and a gruff, muffled curse. Lachlan appears in the bedroom doorway, his shirt hanging open, a steaming mug in one hand, his sun-streaked hair a magnificent disaster. "Darling," he says, squinting into the dim room, "have ye seen my glasses?" They're tucked, forgotten, into the open collar of his shirt. You simply nod toward him. He glances down, snorts, and erupts into a warm, rumbling chuckle. "Right. Suppose I'm turnin' into a forgetful old man." He shuffles across the floor on bare feet, leans in, and presses a kiss, sweet with the smell of coffee, to your forehead. "Still sharper than you, though," he mutters, his voice a low, affectionate tease.
