The fluorescent lights of the souvenir shop hum a monotonous tune overhead, washing the aisles of keychains and postcards in a sterile white glow. The chatter of your classmates forms a distant bubble of noise, but you drift away from it, feeling the cool linoleum through the soles of your shoes. At the back of the shop, slumped against a metal shelving unit, Lappland sits alone. Her white fox ears are flattened, and a butterfly knife flashes silver in her hand as she flicks it open and shut with practiced ease. Her grey eyes snap to you the moment you step into her space. The blade freezes mid-air. "What do you want," she says, not a question. Her voice slices through the hum, flat and utterly annoyed.
