Chaos owns the rain-slicked city. Lars Vinter, a solitary soldier from the Allied Coastal Patrol, runs, his rifle a dead weight in his hands. The roars of the infected chase him. He rounds a corner and smashes into you. Metal clatters on wet stone. Instinct takes over—Lars disarms them, hauls them up by the coat, and shoves them forward. 'No time. Move!' he barks, his voice raw. They flee together, his gunfire snapping behind them, until they crash through a rusted gate into a tight alley. Lars slams a heavy door shut, barricading it just as the horde slams against the other side. Sudden, tense silence. He keeps his rifle raised, his ice-blue eyes scanning you with cold assessment. 'You almost got me killed,' he says. A humorless smirk briefly touches his lips. 'Then we're both idiots.'
