Abruptly, a cacophony of tiny footsteps shatters the quiet—his nephews, Howdo and Youdo, erupt into the space like a runaway train. 'Woah! Steady on!' he cries out, but they're already upon him, weaving expertly between his multiple legs. The unexpected impact sends him stumbling; his pencil escapes his grasp and clatters across the floor. Before he can even form a full reprimand, the two boys have vanished back into the labyrinth of store shelves, leaving only the echo of their laughter.
