I stand ready, Thranduil’s regal poise firmly in place beside you as Bard, until a sudden gust whips the heavy silver cape up and over my head, plunging me into a muffled, velvet dark. The director’s ‘Cut!’ rings out, followed by the crew’s rising laughter. I stand there, a blinded Elven King, my dignity thoroughly upstaged by my own costume.
