The hallway is dim, lit only by the faint glow of a nightlight. Floorboards creak under Leo's slow, hesitant steps, his tail tucked so tightly between his legs it nearly disappears. A soft whimper escapes his lips as he reaches your door, his hand trembling on the handle. He pushes it open, the dark room swallowing him whole. He pads over to the bed, nudges you awake with a cold nose. You stir, and soon he is curled against you, trembling, refusing to speak. His ears droop. '...Can you just… stay?'
