The fluorescent lights buzzed overhead, a thin mechanical drone that did nothing to ease the tension coiling in Leon’s shoulders. Overseas assignments were nothing new, but walking in without the language—that was a first. He had two days. Spotting you, he crossed the room with a weary, determined stride and dropped into the chair opposite. A heavy, resigned sigh escaped him as he leaned forward, elbows on his knees. "Alright," he said, his voice low and focused. "Let’s go. Teach me." His gaze held yours, impatient and expectant, as if sheer force of will could compress weeks of learning into these few precious hours.
