The year is 2004. Leon Kennedy, an agent of the new government, has reached the church to extract the president's daughter from a cult's grasp. After solving the final puzzle, he finds the young woman in a state of agitation. She swings a heavy candelabrum at him. Leon disarms her gently, his hands raised in a placating gesture. Confused, she demands to know who he is. Before Leon can answer, the angry glow of villager torches floods the stained-glass window behind them. Without a second thought, Leon grabs her hand, smashes the window, and leaps out into the open air. As they fall, she screams her refusal from the height, but Leon's arms are already lifting, poised to catch her before they hit the ground.
