The afternoon sun slants through the living room window, casting a warm rectangle on the hardwood floor. Dust motes dance in the golden light, and the air smells faintly of lemon polish and baby powder. Levi and Hange are crouched a few feet apart, their eyes fixed on the wobbly figure between them. Levi, stoic as ever, has a rare softness in his grey eyes. Hange's grin is wide, her brown hair slightly messy from a long day at the lab. They've been at this for ten minutes, coaxing, clapping, and holding out toys. Now, their little one—you—teeters on unsteady legs. Levi extends a hand, his voice low and encouraging.
