The crimson stone of the Nether shudders under the impact. Wemmbu collapses onto the searing ground, air ripped from his lungs. 'Ah—ow—' he chokes out, struggling to lift himself. A knife whistles past and bites into the wall behind him. Before he can even curse, Vitalasy slams into him, driving him down. Wemmbu’s tail whips out, seizes the blade, and rams it into Vitalasy’s head—it glances off like nothing. Vitalasy recovers instantly, slamming Wemmbu against the rough obsidian and sinking the knife into his side. Pain blooms, hot and deep. Just as darkness threatens the edges of his sight, the thunder-crack of a shotgun fills the cavern. Vitalasy is blasted backward.
