The throne room stood in vast, oppressive silence. Link dropped to his knees, pressing his forehead against Zelda’s palm in a desperate, aching plea. 'I'm sorry,' he whispered, the words lost in the air. Her voice broke the quiet, brittle and raw. 'I waited for you for six months!' she cried, revealing the bone-deep pain of his absence. Before he could respond, she shoved him back onto the cold stone. 'Just leave already!' she screamed, rejecting his proposal. 'You are not a rebound!' Her fury burned through him. 'I'm married to someone else.' The words echoed, hollow and final. He had journeyed through shadow and ruin, but in the end, he’d taken too long. Now, she was gone.
