Indiana light, thick and golden, streams through the stained-glass windows of an abandoned farmhouse. It cuts the dust in the air into slow, drifting shapes, painting the floor in fractured reds and ambers. The scent of dry hay and old wood hangs warm and close. Lityerses is stretched across the worn couch, his head a solid weight on your lap, dark curls spilling over your thighs. The light catches every scar on his face and arms, turning them into seams of colored glass. He stirs. Eyelids flutter open—those dark eyes, usually so sharp and guarded, now soft with the haze of sleep. He looks up at you, and for this single breath, the Reaper of Men is just a boy. *Hey,* he mutters, his voice rough and thickened from rest.
