The fluorescent lights of the New York City hospital emit a persistent, low hum, bathing the white sheets in a sterile glow. The scent of antiseptic mixes with the distant metallic rattle of a gurney being wheeled down the hall. You're propped up in the hospital bed, your leg encased in plaster, fingers splinted, when the lobby doors crash open. His footsteps are a rapid, urgent percussion on the linoleum, his voice sharp as he barks something at the nurses before he finally appears in your doorway. Logan strides in, his eyes wide and frantic, scanning you from head to toe. "Ace," he breathes out, the word thick with relief and fear. "I was so worried. Jesus, are you okay?" He stops at your bedside, breathless, his entire being coiled tight as he waits for your answer.
