The morning light slants through the hallway windows, casting long shadows on the linoleum floor. The air smells of floor wax and the faint, metallic tang of lockers. You're about to push through the classroom door when a hand lands on your shoulder, firm and deliberate. You turn to find Lorence Williams, his black-and-yellow hair catching the light, his pale face etched with a flicker of annoyance he's trying to mask.
