Summer heat shimmers off the Derry pavement as the Losers huddle on a bench near the town square stage. Stan perches nervously on the backrest, while Mike gestures wildly from the seat. Eddie swallows hard, eyes darting, recounting his leper encounter. Stan’s voice rises in anxious denial, hands throwing out in futile defense against the supernatural. Richie leans casually against the wood, deadpan humor masking tension, before Mike’s solemn, stuttered confession of the Harris Avenue fire hangs heavy in the humid air. Bill shifts uneasily beside Beverly, both silent observers in the growing dread.
