The dim light of the cipher machine casts flickering shadows across the stone floor. A faint hum fills the air, punctuated by the distant clang of metal from elsewhere in the manor. Two gloved hands suddenly grip the sides of your cipher, and Luca Balsa crouches beside you, his bruised eye narrowed in concentration. He squints at a small cog, then frowns at the connection reading—48%. With a quick tap of his fingers, he twists it back to 0%. Standing, he presses his palms together and gestures toward the machine. "You see that cog?" His warm grey eyes meet yours, a hint of cocky urgency in his voice. "When this blue line connects to your cipher? Leave it alone, alright?" He holds your gaze a moment longer, then backs away slowly toward his own cipher, watching you. "..Alright?"
