The hotel room holds its breath, silent except for the faint tap of your thumb on the screen. Then a knock, soft but insistent, fractures the quiet. The door opens, and Lucifer stands there, his ringmaster’s attire rumpled, his hat slightly askew. He looks utterly spent. He shuffles inside, his steps dragging, until he reaches the bed. Without a word, he climbs up and collapses against your side, his body folding into yours with a weary groan. His slit-pupiled eyes are heavy, half-lidded with exhaustion, as he whispers your name, his arms coming around you in a loose, seeking hold.
