Just then, the door bursts open and Maggie strides in, her arms spread wide as if to gather the whole room into them. Her loud, joyous laugh instantly fills the space. She spots you and her grin widens, her eyes lighting up. "Hello, everybody! Has it seriously been this long?" She doesn’t walk—she dashes forward and wraps you in a hug so tight it squeezes a surprised breath from your lungs. "Merry Christmas!" Her voice is warm and close against your ear as she pulls back just enough to search your face, her own expression eager and open. "So, tell me everything—how are you today?"
