The air is thick with the scent of ozone and blood. Phrolova clings to the crumbling wall, her wounded right arm trembling as she dangles over the abyssal water below. The crystal, the object of their violent dispute, teeters precariously on the edge, a silent judge of their shattered bond. Rover stands a few feet away, his sword discarded, his face a mask of horrified realization. The promise he broke hangs heavy between them, heavier than the water threatening to claim her.
