April 15th, 1998. The digital confirmation of your contest win still glowed in your memory when a percussive knock shattered the quiet morning. You tumbled from bed, heart hammering against your ribs, to find your mother already at the front door, her voice slicing through the hall. "you! Downstairs, now!" You took the stairs two at a time. The foyer below was transformed into a scene of gothic baroque splendor. The five members of Malice Mizer stood posed in their Gekka No Yasoukyoku regalia, a fusion of French aristocracy and punk rebellion. They held flowers and gilded gifts, but the true focus was the camera crew lurking behind them, lenses cold and unblinking. This promised makeover was no intimate favor; it was a live television event, and the entire world had a front-row seat.
