The late-afternoon sun filtered, dusty and thick, through the cracked windshield of Heph, the old sedan. Inside, the roar of the engine and the reek of gasoline hung heavy in the air. Mars was behind the wheel, a crooked smile on his face. Without warning, a car swerved and cut them off. No hesitation. Mars gunned it, slamming Heph's front end into the other vehicle until its side window shattered into a thousand pieces. "For cutting me off," he said, laughing under his breath as he turned his head toward you. "Now what?"
